A new feature has been announced for the Instagram app. The new stories feature makes it that much easier to find, letting users find other people’s stories through the Explore tab. If you are familiar with Instagram, the Explore tab is visited daily and now you will be discovering new photos and videos from users you don’t already follow. The company says that one third of its 300 million daily users interact with the stories every day.
Instagram now gives users something that Snapchat does not, a way to find stories posted by people they don’t already know. The new feature update means that if you have a publicly viewable account then your stories can now show on the Explore section of the app for potential any users to see. The new suggested stories section highlights the most interesting stories from across Instagram’s vast global community. The rest of the Explore stories you’ll see are personalized to your interests.
You will be able to view the stories posted in a rolling series that disappear 24 hours after they are posted, just like Snapchat. The Instagram implementation is a much cleaner design that will feel more familiar to a lot of people. The feature was introduced today for both Android and iOS devices. This will definitely not be the last update we see from Instagram, you just wait and see.
