PC: Windows
Windows 1809, otherwise known as the Fall Creator Update, has been postponed for all users. This is one of the biggest updates Windows gets twice a year. There would be so many new features added to users and IT professionals such as ourselves here at Level 2 Designs. So what happened? Why did Microsoft stop roll out of the update to all Window 10 computers?
Windows 10 has a type of beta that most users can opt in. This allows us to help Microsoft view any issues that they didn’t catch and allows the users that have opted in to let Microsoft know that something is going on with the update. There have been a few reports of Windows deleting files since this beta but for reasons unknown, they’ve been unheard or unnoticed by Microsoft. So forward to today, the update has been live for a few users since October 2nd and was supposed to forward to all users on the 9th. But they’ve stopped all roll out since the 4th.
Once the update went live, you can simply go to Settings>Update & Security>Windows Update and download the new update. But that’s when more users started noticing. A lot of people went to forums and started posting about the update. Warning other users and Microsoft about this. Understandably, people were frustrated. Many documents, pictures, and other important data was gone, deleted from their hard drive. Many tried to recover their data with varying success. Anyone knows that in the age of computers, having your files deleted is a very big issue. There are technology firms that specialized on just data recovery since it’s an important thing for people. Whether it be pictures from 20 years ago, to your new document that was made yesterday, anyone would get upset seeing their files being deleted.
If you’ve been affected by the new Windows update, give us a call at (714) 888-4557 ext 2. In theory no one should have been affected, but if you chose to update your computer when the update was still live and noticed some files missing, call us, we’re here to help.
