AirBnB has had a wonderful year. They have grown enormously and have become a household name. More and more people are using the term “AirBnB” when referring to where they are staying when going on a trip. While it’s very convenient and typically a better deal than staying at a hotel, they have received some backlash from the hotels that are not benefiting from this business. Despite the backlash and lawsuits they have also received from cities, citing that AirBnB was creating loopholes for people renting out their properties, they have been thriving and are looking to add more features.
Soon, Airbnb will be moving beyond just renting properties to vacationers, and they will also be booking flights for its users. There are many apps that allow you to book flights, hotels, and a vehicle all at once, such as Kayak. Kayak is very popular and more than often will give you good deals. Airbnb wants to expand and will face extreme competition and maybe some backlash? They will need to offer what the competitors are not.
What drives people to use Airbnb? Well as someone who has used it when going on vacation, it is easy to use. More than often, the people that are renting out their homes seem reliable and the places feel like home, which is important when looking for a place to stay. When booking the site also gives you a small description of the neighborhood and the things you could do during your stay. It appeals to people who love simplicity and are looking for a place that reminds me them of home, a home away from home.
We will have to wait and see how it integrates flights into its lists of services.
