As we look forward, the online world continues to evolve at an ever-quickening pace, and technology brings new capabilities and challenges to our door. With social media such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Snap Chat it is difficult to stay away from the online era we live in. Technology will continue to grow as society learns to explore the never ending land of insight.
Technology is a huge area of our lives that has transformed newspapers into websites, maps are now apps, and mail is email. Which brings me to coding as some consider magic. The craft of sorcery and a craft of computer programming. Finding the correct set of instructions as a coder you can transform the world, as though with incantations and spells as described in Lev Grossman’s The Magicians trilogy. Each function has a specific set of inputs that must be used properly without the slightest error. Programming and magic require precision. The reality is that everything is computational.
Everything is computational, thus it opens the door to endless possibilities. Every observation holds a set of visible differences. We call information, If the observation corresponds to a system that can change its state, we can describe these as state changes. As we identify these state changes, we are looking at a computational system. As these abilities expand, we are increasingly being given the power to query how our world works simply by asking questions, in the precise commands of our code. Learning how to code has never been more fashionable.
