In the past few years, fitness has developed into something of a social identity, at least among plugged-in, upper middle class, roughly millennial age urbanites. With the ability to connect with people from all over the globe at any moment. We have access to data, ideas, new exercises, and the latest workout trends with the click of a button.
Fitness researchers see the trend as both natural and encouraging. We all know that getting fit is not fun in the beginning nor is it easy. However, when your joined with a group of people that encourage you to move and keep going it can’t be that bad. While nobody tracks the numbers, it’s safe to say that thousands of people in the United States have at least one social media profile. We connect with old friends from past lives, stay in touch with those in our current lives, and even make new friends.
We see many leaders find themselves working nearly full-time to create and grow their community, all without pay. There are infinite possibilities to find right path for our journeys in fitness and wellness right here and right now.
The desire for social connectedness and the positive feeling some get from the environment must be worth the time, energy, and sacrifice to stay fit. Indeed, we live in a world of instants; instant messaging and text messaging. We tend to seek convenience and there is nothing more convenient than technology.
